Recognize your bravery

The spiritual path requires bravery.

Actually, bravery is essential in all aspects of life.

Master of Yoga Dr. George King said in a lecture on bravery, which is the first of The Nine Freedoms:

“Right throughout our spiritual evolution, bravery is an absolute essential if we are to go on. Not foolishness, but wise bravery – a kind of a steadfastness – is absolutely essential to all people.

Notice those who fear. They are not advanced. Those who are brave through ignorance, neither are they advanced. It is the steadfast people who do not fear these kind of things who are advanced.”

Bravery takes different forms. People often think of courage on a battlefield, but we have opportunities to be brave everyday.

Maybe you’re interested in spirituality but none of your family or friends are. It takes bravery to explore it on your own.

Maybe you grew up in an orthodox religion. It takes bravery to explore other faiths. It takes bravery to try new spiritual practices and to learn to pray in a different way.

But from this bravery comes knowledge.

“Freedom from fear can be brought into active manifestation within all men providing they have knowledge.” – The Cosmic Master known as Mars Sector 6, The Nine Freedoms

The more knowledge we gain, the more brave we can be. It’s like a never ending upwards spiral.

We will have new situations that require us to be brave, but we will also be ready for them.

I remember a time when I lived in Michigan, near the Eastern USA Branch. Richard Lawrence was visiting from The Aetherius Society’s European Headquarters in London. He was giving a workshop on The Nine Freedoms and I decided to go.

At one point, he asked for people to go up to the front to volunteer and receive some healing.

I do not like to be the center of attention and I do not like to be in front of people. This was even more so the case back then.

But I decided that I would try it. I felt that the information he was giving us about The Nine Freedoms made logical sense. And it made me want to step out of my comfort zone.

I stood in front of everyone as they sent me healing and to my surprise a dull pain that I had experienced in my hip for several years completely disappeared.

The pain was there for so long, that I was genuinely surprised not to feel it anymore.

We may not always notice the instant reward for being brave, but it is always there.

Something you can try

The Prayer for Spiritual Workers has a line focusing on helping spiritual workers be brave. The Master Jesus said this about this prayer:

“Say this Prayer with your heart and with your Soul, when the world is cold to you—and you will be warmed. Say it when you are down—and you will be lifted. Say it when you are alone—and you will be comforted by a Presence. Say it when you fail—and you will succeed. Say it when you die—and you will live. Say it so that you may gain sufficient Power and strength to do greater things.”

Can you remember a time when you felt you were being brave?
