Psychic protection is important to everyone on the spiritual path.

As we develop ourselves spiritually, we can become more sensitive to outside influences, both positive and negative.

In 1961, Dr. George King gave a lecture on psychic self-defense. He said:

“If you are in spiritual work—and psychic self-defense doesn’t so much apply to the man in the street—if you’re in spiritual work you should be prepared to devote very much to it in order to be of great use to the world.

You must be prepared to give service to others so that you may receive a service from the Great Ones. This is essential. You can pray from now till doomsday, in any way you like, and those prayers can be as useless as a piece of cardboard in a mountain blizzard unless you have demonstrated in some practical way your unselfishness. 

Remember, selfishness is one of the weapons used by the dark forces in order to bring about the very division…so you must kill this selfishness stone dead before you’ll ever do any good. You must kill this selfishness stone dead before you can ever protect yourself against any force whatsoever; before you can ever have the blessing of a Force of Light which, by the way, also exists.”

Simply by being of Service to others, we can create a protective barrier around ourselves. This isn’t to say that protective practices are unnecessary, however, if we don’t have a “selfish” chink in our armor, we are more protected.
