Learning about past lives

Many people are interested in past lives.

Some seek answers to their current problems by looking into the past, others have a genuine memory of a previous life, and many are just curious about who they used to be.

But it is who we are now – in our current life – and what we do now, that really matters.

We have all lived through countless previous lives – lives of success and lives of failure. Who we are today is a result of all our previous experiences. No one life alone will hold all the answers for us.

In a lecture on forgetfulness Dr. George King talked about the importance of this life over previous ones, saying:

“It’s this life which is important. Not your past life. Whether you were the Queen of Sheba or somebody who cleaned up the dirt from the Queen of Sheba’s horses doesn’t matter much.”

And later in this lecture he also said:

“Everything that we have ever learned throughout our past lives is known to the subconscious being. And it’s collated quite automatically and it is put away in a system of filing. It’s a very complicated filing system, but it’s just stored away there for when at some future time it might be needed.”

So we need not try and find out who we were in our previous lives. When the time is right, we will remember what we need to know.

***

I do not have any conscious memories of previous lives that I am aware of.

However, I do feel I have been drawn to certain situations, certain places and I can see how this has benefited me on my spiritual path. My feeling is that some of these are a result of previous lifetimes.

I have a friend who does have a memory from a past life. He was in a town square with a lot of other people and they were all there to see someone who was seemingly a spiritual Master.

What he remembered seeing in this experience really helped inspire him along his spiritual path. It gave him a deeper understanding of his own spiritual journey.

So memories of past life experiences can help us when we remember them at the right time.

Something you can try

We can begin this process of unlocking the boundless knowledge within ourselves by training ourselves to listen more to our intuition. With regular practice, we can develop it into a source of wisdom and a strong guiding force in our lives.

Dr. King states that the best way to train our intuition is to listen to what he calls “pricks of conscience” more.

So when we have something inside of us pointing us one way over another, we should listen to this. The more we do, the greater ability we will have to tap into our intuition.

Have you had any feelings or experiences about a previous life? Did you find it helped you in some way?
