Your relationship with God
What is God?
Our relationship with God is the most important relationship we have. But if we don’t understand what God “is,” how can we develop this relationship?
It is difficult to conceptualize what God “is.” It is literally everything, but it is also within all things. We can’t wrap our heads around it. God’s greatness is completely beyond our comprehension.
Some people limit their perception of God, reducing it to an all-powerful being sitting in the clouds. This can make it seem easier to speak to, easier to pray to, easier to have a relationship with.
But if we hold to the belief that God is all things then, even if we can’t understand it, we can gain a lot from trying to.
In the Twelfth Blessing to the Absolute, the Master Jesus helps us gain a deeper appreciation for the greatness of God and says:
“Oh little children, do not let the fools of your World limit your concept. Do not let them limit your thought. Do not let them limit your visualisation. Do not let them limit your Soul—but think upon these things. Let these Truths enter into your consciousness, so that—you may be better prepared for your journey through Experience.”
As God is everything, we cannot properly conceptualize it or fully understand it. But if we think about God often, if we try to live our lives in line with its Law, if we pray to God for help and guidance, we can build this relationship.
By keeping our thoughts on the highest things in life, we are opening ourselves up to more inspiration and guidance. We are advancing. So the more we work on building a relationship with God, the more help we will receive.
Something you can try
Prayer is a wonderful way to help others, to keep our thoughts high and therefore to become closer to God.
The Twelve Blessings is a balanced and powerful way to do this.
We have daily Twelve Blessings Services that you can join for free, or you can practice this on your own.
